Summer Travel
Summer is a season of travel. A time when our family sets out on getaways near and far, hoping to create memories that will be cherished for years to come.
Organizing for a smooth vacation
But before we hit the road or take to the skies, lists of to-do’s are awaiting, especially when we travel with our kids. From packing suitcases to planning activities, involving our children in the organization process not only teaches them valuable skills but also ensures a smoother and more enjoyable trip for everyone involved. So, as you gear up for your summer adventures, here are some tips on how prepare for our upcoming trips!
1. Packing Bags: When traveling with kids and teenagers, it's crucial to pack efficiently. Encourage them to pack their own bags! I use our clipboard and a pen with a list of how many days and nights we will be traveling, the quantities of clothes, and a lineup of their basic necessities. When they have checked off their list, we place the items in their suitcase together! That way, hopefully, no one forgets anything!

2. Prepared with Necessities: I love having a specific bag that stays ready to grab at all times. It includes all of my basic beauty essentials, as well as allows me to have access to basic medications and first aid. I purchase travel sized items, and keep them packed all the time. Bringing a few extras of specific items (like tooth brushes) is always a good idea because someone is bound to forget to grab something. Having my bag packed gives me peace of mind knowing that I didn’t forget any of the basic needs me or my family might have through the duration of our trip.
3. Travel Treats: Have you noticed that teenagers are always hungry? I prepare a little bag for each person of “travel treats” to have while we travel. Not only does it help save a little cash on those expensive airport and gas station treats … but when unexpected travel mishaps come along, you have something to keep everyone happy!
Our family is so excited to head out on our first vacation this week with my two oldest to Europe! Being organized allows us to make the most of our time together, creating cherished memories that will last long after the vacation ends. So, as we embark on our adventure, let's embrace the power of organization and set ourselves up for a vacation filled with fun, relaxation, and unforgettable moments.
Happy Travels!
